Streets of Words

by Baby Rainbow   Jan 16, 2016

In the streets of words,
your old ones escape
and your new ones become
everything that I am lost inside,
everything that crushes me into the gutter.

If you heard them once,
you can't think that my opinion is wrong,
I knew all along the truth of your lie:

You just wanted somebody to love,
and as time passed along,
I allowed you to love me,
even though I warned you
to quit while you were ahead.

Foolishly, I believed your words,
I believed in your love.
But there you go,
one year more of becoming my old friend,
tell me, how long until you vanish for good?

How long until we both stop sleeping
on the streets of your cold words,
living under the lie
of the love that was always fake?

I allowed you to love me,
    even though I warned you
to quite while you were ahead.

^^Did you mean quit in the last line..?

Another write that has gotten me thinking. Once again I like the opening of your poem:

    In the streets of words,
    your old ones escape
    and your new ones become
everything that I am lost inside,
everything that crushes me into the gutter.

^^Its like tarring the road making the old pot holed ones into new. Burying whatever scars, cracks and wounds with a new layer of road/words to travel on just to make a relationship to move ahead; though you already know its ended.

It feels like the person does not want to give a
straight forward answer instead just piling up with false assurance until you or something between the two breaks....take care.
