This heart This heart was built to love you The heart you filled with air The second you held my tiny hand And placed it in your care This heart sought your guidance When life was a lonely road Building a path for all of us With dreams both new and old This heart never left the tower You built in solace to keep me safe Filling it with my photographs Putting all your memories in place This heart stretched to know you Hold you in your darkest hour But now it is just all too late Death lay beyond any power This heart it saw your many sides The truth you kept tight in your chest As the dirt slipped through my fingers I put your secrets to rest This heart you leave it bruised With memories that I can't erase I tell you that I am suffering Hoping you will put me in my place (For Dad- because I wish I had known how troubled you were before it was too late)
