I Will Be Your Rock

by Glenn G   Feb 15, 2016

You once fell in love
With a boy you gave your hand
He made you a woman
But then he ran

You fell in love again
And at the alter I saw the two of you stand
But the vows that were made
Washed away like sand

I ask you to trust me and love again
For I love you and always have
We will walk down the aisle
Gazing at each others smile
This time I will not break your heart
Or bring you any sorrows
I will be your rock and foundation
For you to build all your tomorrow's

Glenn, this is a sad yet emotion filled piece that turns out lovely in the end.

Many of us can relate about being hurt time and again and I feel moving on is the difficult part which it seems this lady did then got hurt again and is finding it hard to trust because of the hurtful past. (whether true or not)

    You once fell in love
With a boy you gave your hand
    He made you a woman
    But then he ran
    ^^
Falling in love once is hard especially when with the wrong person but to be treated like an object whether man or woman is hurtful. The made you a woman line I'm not sure if it means marrying her or just having his way then legging it lol either way sad.

    You fell in love again
And at the alter I saw the two of you stand
But the vows that were made
    Washed away like sand
    ^^
Now with this I see the woman /man made a mistake maybe even married too early resulting in a break up of the marriage. I like the imagery of vows washing away like sand.

I ask you to trust me and love again
For I love you and always have
We will walk down the aisle
    Gazing at each others smile
This time I will not break your heart
    Or bring you any sorrows
I will be your rock and foundation
For you to build all your tomorrow's
    ^^
I love this ending asking her to trust again because she is hurt and it will take time for her to trust again with anyone but i sense with you sayin you won't break her heart again that you was either love one or two. Maybe I am wrong.

    All in all great write.

    Em
