Acceptance

by Brenda   Feb 18, 2016

Would you take
my hand
and walk with me?
Would you take
my heart
and hold it near?
Would you take
me
as I am?
Would you accept
all my faults,
my quirks,
and not so perfectness?
Would you accept
this body of mine,
ravaged by time?
The scars and lines,
bumps and bulges,
all signs of a life lived
with its share of joy and sorrow.
Will you take
my hand
and walk with me
when I'm old and gray?
When our steps falter,
unsure of the world
around us.
Will you hold me near
and never let me go?
Being in love
with me,
taking my hand
until the very end...

    Another beautiful heartfelt write.
How can anyone can say no to a beautiful soul like you.

Awww thank you L! This was the poem we had on our wedding program. When you meet someone and you both are in your 40's life has happened. You aren't these kids any longer whose bodies are perfect and you aren't dragging a ton of baggage with you. It is all about acceptance for each other.

Thank you Gel! My husband and I had been through so much in past relationships that when we met and were in a relationship we talk a lot about acceptance. We fully accepted each other just the way we were.

Brenda, if you find someone who accepts you for you with you imperfections (and we all have them) then you have a keeper.

    All the best, Em

So very true Em! I wrote this for my Hunny Bunny and it was printed on our programs for our wedding. He definitely is a keeper.

    Brenda,

    I truly adore this poem.

Love poetry that reads softly and elegantly is what I love.

This poem holds deep meaning for you.. and within every line I can feel the love.

    just lovely!

Thank you! I wrote this poem after I met my now husband, we were dating awhile and I knew I had fallen in love with this wonderful man. He allowed me just to be me and accepted me as I was, no strings, no games. My previous marriage had ended horribly and I really thought I would rather be alone instead of having to deal with that again. Then I met him and it all changed. I cannot imagine my life without him.
