"Another poem to my depression" |
Thank you so much, Ben, I truly appreciate it. I think so many people mean well, or may not know how to help at first, but I've heard a lot of people say to "just get over it" or "just be happy". While happiness IS a choice I believe, sometimes it's not as simple as that. I pray that people can overcome depression with the right tools, whether that be meds, therapy, etc... but for some it is chronic and so that person is constantly needing to work through it and remind themselves that there is hope EVERY day. |
This has touched me and hit home for me. Depression is no joke and it does exist but it does not define who we are. It's a struggle and it takes everything in us but we are strong people. People don't understand nor try instead they like to advise us to get over. Not that simple. From what I am reading you are on the right path. Keep going. Take care |

Absolutely. As you say, it really isn't a case of just "being happy" always, is it? It is a constant battle. I think the trick is, though, to never give up on wanting to battle it. As soon as you do, it wins. |
I really like your poem and how you have portrayed depression particularly how it twists the way we perceive things: |
