You and I

by Piper Lefebvre   Feb 29, 2016

I saw you stare at me in class
you looked away when i caught you staring

I saw through your glance like glass
you complimented me on what i was wearing

When our eyes met for just for a short time
my face turned beet red

I tried to talk to you but i was quiet as a mime
your smile i'll never dread

I know i wont have a chance with you
competing with all those pretty girls

When you said you liked me too
my heart filled with swirls

I was no longer a mime
you and i are forever

Till the end of time
our love fall apart? never

Oh to be that girl again looking for the 'eye candy' haha brought back memories. A nice romantic poem.

The 3rd stanza reads: 'When our eyes met for just for a short time, my face turned beet red.' I feel it would read better 'when our eyes met for that short time, my face turned beetroot red'

Hello Tess and welcome to the site.

This poem brings back many memories for me; staring at the pretty girls in class was ever more interesting than the work!
This has a nice rhyme scheme that shows real promise for one so young.
Well done, keep writing and all the best,
    Ben
