Love, above all, should never be harder than it is easy in my opinion. There are always hard times to deal with in any relationship, but those times should never become a permanent weight about one's shoulders, if that makes sense. Love should give us "wings to soar" as you say - not drag us to the ground.
What I like about your poetry is the honesty in which you write and the way you structure many of your pieces: the short lines really act as a way of driving each of your words home - almost like bullet points act. They "lodge" in the reader's mind!

Brenda, this is an absolutely beautiful write that I am sorry I missed.
To me love is painful and hurts like hell all the time but I'm beginning to realise now that it shouldn't be like that and at 27 it sounds so silly that I haven't witnessed this type of love, real love, properly apart from my Mum because she would never change me even in my bad times when I was a stroppy teen lol.

Love should not change us, control us or define us like many people think it should and here is a true example of this that love lets you be free and be yourself. Alongside acceptance and tolerance love should be honest too.

I loved this little write and I would like to say thank you for being you too because you are beautiful inside and out and as Michael said one of the sweetest ladies on here and I am glad you now have this kind of love.
