Missing you

by Brenda   Mar 5, 2016

I miss
holding your hand
your quiet calm
a balm for
the chaos that
has sometimes been my life...
You were
a safe haven
from the push and pull
that parents
engage in
while in the throes
of splitting up...
I wasn't judged,
not faulted
for not being perfect...
You just accepted me
as me...
As the years
have gone by
you've imparted your wisdom,
you have been
my mediator
between a sometimes
sticky mother-daughter thing...
I'm forever grateful
for all the
love and wisdom
you've imparted on me...
I miss our talks
and the way your face
would light up
when you saw me...
like I was the most special
little girl
in the world...
You are still
and always will be
my source of strength,
my inspiration,
my angel...
I love you Grandma!

Well, my grandma was very strict so I never had that bond of comfort with her, but it's so good to read about your grandma and the relationship two of you had.

    Nice tribute!

Thank you L! This was actually written for a dear friend of mine. Her grandma was always her rock. My grandma was pretty strict too. One of those stout German ladies who weathered the Great Depression while trying to raise a family on the plains of the Midwest.

This was such a lovely write about how one person can be that safe haven when parents split up. I haven't been through that but have been through a break up and my Nan was that place. It's awful to lose that haven. xx

Thank-you! I hope we all have someone safe to go to especially when everything is falling apart.
