Lost moments

by Milly Hayward   Mar 15, 2016

Music pulls tightly at my soul
follows me out as I stroll
chases the dragons of my mind
to outer life it makes me blind
haunts my dreams and memories
of times gone by unanswered pleas

Melody paints to me a scene
what is now and once has been
music can't take away the pain
it expands emotional drain
Without warning you went away
why was it you couldn't stay

Thunderous waves over my heart
bitter tones that make me smart
spirit twirls in circles sink
tears prickling I'm on the brink
falling over cliff top edge
broken smashed under sandy ledge

Memories fading out of reach
music takes away my speech
Bereft of joy empty inside
No-one saw it I had my pride
Outer visage now serene
No pain will they ever glean

As darkness washes over me
the light is fading I can see
gently close my heart and soul
bolster up with heaps of coal
through the shadow of my grave
hear the music glad heavens wave

This one is close to my heart because music is such a part of my life. My tastes are eclectic in what I listen to, play or write about. This one hit home for me. Thank you for sharing.
