Serene

by Baby Rainbow   Mar 16, 2016

Sharing our serene beach
as beating waves shimmer like diamonds,
somehow spreading soothing calmness
into my heart through time.

I was desperate to be different,
holding a past like mine
felt like it made me unlovable.

But with a kind hand
catching this small bright star,
you shared your vibrant soul
and taught me to realise
the gold beauty within.

And now serene dreams of the future
sing like they could be mine!

Finaly a glimmer of hope for the peace you deserve. The setting provides great emphasis in three ways. A beach is a place of boundaries: you have been trapped by the perception that you are subject to unreal boundaries in your past. The sea, in the aspect of waves and tides represents the cycles of life, in this case the development of a different relationship created in the time of the poem. Finally, the sea itself is a symbol of change, under scoring the profound change you are finding available to you.
    Beautiful poem, Saffie.
