The Cup of Tea

by Everlasting   Mar 17, 2016

A lemon split in half, adorns a cup
while aunt Maria pours the tea to mom.
When aunt is done, she smiles and calls her pup.
It hears her voice then comes to bark at Tom.
The question lies in who is Tom, dear lord?
I'll tell you Tom is one of mom's two boys.
He hit the pup last night with metal cord.
The boy is four, he thought that wires were toys.
But now the pup resents the sleazy child
and aunt Maria doesn't know the why
though mom foresees that aunt will soon go wild
I bet she knows her son will make her cry.

So mom gulps down her drink to stand then leave
She fears to end up like the lemon on the tea.
