I promise I will love you
For better or for worse.
I promise I will vilify you
In poetic verse.

I promise that you will be
My one true love in life,
Unless a better option comes
Because you've caused me strife.

And I will never mention
(or try to anyway)
All the dreams I set aside
To be with you today.

I promise I will cherish you
Until you're old and grey,
And I will never leave you
'Till the chicks have flown away.

    I got the satire in this when I read it earlier and it certainly made me smile; it could almost be in the humour category. On the other hand, the truth behind it is undeniably unhappy and too often the case in relationships.

    I can feel the sadness it makes you feel to love this person even though it's caused you much trouble to love them. Written well

      Thank you Em for your comments - much appreciated - I wasn't sure whether it should have gone in a different category, as it's very tongue in cheek and suppose to be a little satirical
