The Question

by AngelaLuisaCory   Mar 25, 2016

He's standing in the dark
With his collar pulled up high.
He's standing in the rain
With his face against the sky,
Then he turns towards the corner
Where he's been so many times -
He's looking for the Reason,
He's searching for the Rhyme.
His mind absorbs the columns
And the politicians' views,
His mind is like a mirror -
It reflects the media news.
He climbs the steps of memory
He fears the truth of what he sees
He runs the corridors of blame
And hides the facts behind his shame.
A solitary person
On the Road that never ends,
A man who has forsaken
All his childhood friends.
He wants to find The Question,
A way out of his pain,
But he turns without the asking,
He's giving up again.

Nicely written, with a fluid rhyme scheme which makes this meaningful poem very easy and pleasant to read. Funny, this poem tickled my memory somehow........:)

*I think you left out an 'h' in the title! Just go into "my poems" on the right of your screen and there'll be an edit option.

Thank you Ben - I saw and corrected - I wonder why it tickled your memory - can't imagine why - I wrote it when I was 27!
