On Dementia - for Mum and my Uncle

by AngelaLuisaCory   Mar 25, 2016

Please don't forget who I once was
And not what I've become.
Behind my cloudy winter eyes
There once shone through bright sun.

The sadness in my face you see
Is just the pass of years.
I can't express the words it seems
The consequence is tears.

I don't remember yesterday
But youthful past is clear.
You sit and take me by the hand
Your face is oh so dear.

So please sing songs that I recall
I'll join in when I can
They make me smile, they make me laugh
I know you understand.

I cannot tell you how I feel
But I will squeeze your hand-
And I will join in with our song,
I know you understand.

Please know I love you MORE than words
You'll see it in my eyes
And we will sing for ever more
Beneath our Spanish skies.

Please don't forget who I once was
And there will be no end,
For I do love you MORE THAN WORDS,
My sister and my friend.
