Eriee Lighthouse

by Michael D Nalley   Mar 30, 2016

The image of a lighthouse in an eerie peace
of blue water looking cold even when it's warm
gives rise to serenity and sense of release.
making me remember the calm before the storm.
There's a reassurance that in the dark of night
in the lake of the north named by the Erie tribe
of a great structure created for guiding light.
For the nature of the lake that came to imbibe
the danger of the area that could be grave.
learned by lost sailors looking for a saving light.
in a place called the land of the free and the brave.
Now it seems now like old news redundantly trite.

The wonder of the lighthouse and the Erie lake
that is the sole subject of my humble rhyme,
remembered by so many for heavens sake
is history that is repeated over time
but the true facts does not a false fiction make
yet great morals are so eternally sublime
The beauty is that our lost souls have come to trust
a guiding light in a tower that is always there.
It is not only beautiful it is a must
on stormy nights that are anything but fair.

Nice rendering of vivid imagery and a well done metaphor, Michael.
