You and Me

by Once an Angel   Apr 5, 2016

In that silence
the words frozen on our lips,
frozen,
lingering on.
"What then will become of us?"
The us that once contrived
you and I -
Us.
Is there still, us?
If we separate
what breaks off
what is left
is still you and I?
No, not I.
I is altered,
changed and shattered,
new and foreign
forlorn I.
Can you stay the same?
Maybe so.
Maybe not.
Ask yourself
as I ask me.
Choice and context
twists of fate
make you, make me,
break you, break me,
made us, broke us,
altered and shattered
you and me.

    Hello

What a clever piece of mind-bending poetry this is that I read three times and enjoyed more with every read. I love the bit "What is left is still you and I? No not I. I is altered."

Excellent and an excellent write. Take care
    Ben
