Loving Nevermore

by Baby Rainbow   Apr 9, 2016

I gave you an open view
to the inside of my closed heart,
not realising that you wouldn't care
about the emotion it held within.

Though my imperfect life
was never going to be good enough for you,
I didn't see your hidden values
through the false vision I believed in.

You gladly twist reality
when the night pierces you hard
with an endless goodbye,
but the reality is that I left your intricate love
because I couldn't stay any longer without hope,
and I didn't know I signed up
for an unknown surprise of rules
that would forever limit your love for me
and forever taint my love for you.

This poem really captured the nuances of being in an unsuitable rule driven relationship. Wanting it to be right, unrequited love. The false illusions that we create about a person that we want to love us. Leaving when finally the realisation that there is no hope of him changing. An emotion tale of love unfulfilled
