Lying to the world

by WanderingShade   Apr 24, 2016

All these people keep asking,
If I'm ok,
If I'm doing fine,
And I say the same line every time...

I stand there with this false smile,
Looking them all right in the eyes,
Saying my screws are all tightened,
And I haven't lost my way...

I wonder if anybody notices,
The chinks in my armor,
When I'm not the being watched,
And I let show the darkness that's inside...

I truly believe that putting on a fake smile everyday is worse than the depression itself. When people ask if we're ok we should tell the truth but how do you explain how you're feeling when you're stuck in a rut.
    Great, emotion filled piece.

Putting up a a fassade can be very tiring. We often don't want others to know how we feel but eventually it can break us. There are some who do understand. We just have to find them. Thanks for sharing. Take care

    Hello

I think we have all had times like this: everyday seems to be a battle just to stay happy and to portray happiness to those around us. Then you reach a point where you simply get tired of the pretence.
I wonder how many people we pass everyday are, in fact, wearing a metaphorical mask?

    Great write
