In Control

by Phil Laws   Apr 29, 2016

Memory
A bedtime story
Infancy
Spent on agony
Naivety
Beaten from me
Reality
Cut for sanity
Tethered
Subdued and cornered
Tortured
A childhood tendered
Measured
To defy the word
Weathered
But far from cured
But now I feel
Like I am in control
'N' I can feel
Like I've crawled out of that hole

Really glad you pointed this out to me Phil as Ben said it's a clever piece that is original and the structure is perfect in getting to your point.

    Fab write, Em

I actually hadn't put this up until I read yours. I tend to write 4 verses and this never felt complete. Maybe someday I'll come back to it but it's not easy to get in the mind of. I started singing the 'chorus' about 15 years ago.

    Hello Phil,

A clever and original write here which is brimming with creativity. I love the way you have laid this piece out - almost like short, sharp bullet points that drive what you are saying home.

Take care and all the best,
    Ben

I think I recall the bullet points being inspired by something I wanted to emulate. It's not something I've done much.
