Bus Rats

by Chad Picard   Apr 29, 2016

I sit at the bus stop, @ 9:03
What, my friend, do you see
When you look at me?

A man too poor to own a car
Do you question my competence?
And my cohorts, are we mere riffraff?

Do you see us?
Are we (to you) unwashed and unintelligent?
The Plebiscite, of no account?

Do you not know?
We have children, and parents
Friends, and Foes

Hopes, and Dreams
Fears, and Goals?

Or do you pass us by
Giving no thoughts at all?

    Another well thought out piece.

We are all humans.. This made me think of this quote no matter how flashy your car, how you dress, how rich you are we all end up going the same way. Stay humble, always or something along those lines.

Alot of food for thought here.

About what I was getting at, yeah.

Just came to me in the ten minutes I was waiting for the bus a few days ago.

Your poem makes an interesting point. A few years ago coming back from a business trip in my suit. Being practical I refused to pay the ridiculously high taxi fare from the train station and instead caught a bus for a quarter of the price. I got strange looks for the opposite reason. People sadly still tend to judge a person on how they are dressed Milly x

Since I grew up in an area with no.public transportation I always found the bus system intriguing - my thought is if it's available and dependable why not use it. I never considered people who did the dregs of society, a more frugal way to get from one place to the next without all the overhead. Nice write-
