Like Starting Over Again

by Timothy   Apr 29, 2016

Verse 1:

From the day we departed, I felt a deep dread,
Trying to carve a new life, trying to make new friends;
But each night I slept alone, with no one at my side,
And each day I walked alone, with damaged pride.

I had no choice but to move on, losing touch with you,
There was a void in my life, but what else is a man supposed to do?
There were other women in my life, but none that were true,
Empty affairs are just that, Lord, how I missed you!

Chorus:

What we could accomplish, if we could try one more time,
If the clock could rewind, you would be all mine;
No more lonely days, and sleepless nights,
Our passion reaching such new heights!
If we could find it in our hearts to mend,
It would like starting over again.

Verse 2:

Like some silly fantasy, like some unreal dream,
You were in my sight again, akin to an angelic theme;
At first it was ignoring, then some small glance,
My heart skipped beats, thinking we might again have a chance.

"Hellos" turned to small talk, then a little more,
I vowed not to make the mistakes I made before;
A kiss on the cheek, and a small embrace,
That emptiness is finally a filled-in space.

Repeat Chorus:

What we could accomplish, if we could try one more time,
If the clock could rewind, you would be all mine;
No more lonely days, and sleepless nights,
Our passion reaching such new heights!
If we could find it in our hearts to mend,
It would like starting over again.

    Timothy, I really enjoyed this and can definitely relate to the lyrics of being left with nothing but dented pride then starting over again even if with the same person because no matter what we all deserve another chance and a chance to be happy.

    All the best, Em
