The Devil's Song (Fall 2)

by Maher   Apr 30, 2016

What is it coming, dear?
What does it say?
Strung up with the doves on a cold Summer's day.
Trust in your breathing, dear,
fall wholly astray.
Settle for nothing less than flower bouquets.

What have I done to earn this wrath from the sun?
Bury my silence where these rivers won't run.

Singing laa-didaa doo-da, laa di-dai day,
laa-daa she sings 'till it all falls away.
Laa-didaa doo-da, oh laa di-dai day,
her beauty lies trapped in her voice as she caves.

Fall to the beat, my dear,
slide further from God.
Walk His green earth in your boundless facade.
Trick me so sneaky, dear -
the taste of your tongue.
Silence is golden but sex is a gun.

"How can I fall back to my roots when they're buried?
This dust fools my breath as your skin helps me tarry."

Singing laa-didaa doo-da, laa di-dai day,
laa-daa she sings 'till it all falls away.
Laa-didaa doo-da, oh laa di-dai day,
her beauty lies trapped in their eyes as she caves.

Wither and crawl in this lust stricken world,
in beauty you trust and with devils we dwell.
Cry dry to the puppets as they play you my tune,
willingly you all follow - in my will, you all swoon.

Singing laa-didaa doo-da, laa di-dai day,
laa-daa she sings 'till it all falls away.
Laa-didaa doo-da, oh laa di-dai day,
her beauty lies trapped in her voice as she caves.

Laa-didaa doo-da, laa di-dai day,
laa-daa they sing 'till they all break away.
Laa-didaa doo-da, oh laa di-dai day,
their faith, it lies trapped in my song as they stray.

This song is a sequel to an older poem I wrote called "Fall". You can find it on here if you like.

The woman from Fall is being corrupted by the devil and then used as a tool to do likewise to others. This is all happening down the line, outside of her old victim's knowledge. I intended it to be a glimpse into a "what goes around, comes around" situation.

You can be wronged by others, but sometimes things will come their way without your knowledge and kick them in the butt far harder than you ever could - so don't hold a grudge against anyone, because you never know how life can bring it's own justice around :)
