When A Hero Dies

by Baby Rainbow   May 21, 2016

Through your sleepy eyes,
I can see you scarcely hanging on,
and I wish so much
that life could grant you a little more time.

You became a heavenly fragrance,
touching my lonely sense of smell,
and I don't want to know
who I will become without you,
or how I will cope without the softness of your fur
touching me like an angel's feather.

And in a couple of months,
it will hurt to hear you crying,
and break my heart to hear your final breathing...

But I will forever be inspired by the life you led,
and seek comfort though the passion
of making your legacy live on,
long after your golden paws have gone.
