Shriek

by Augustus Black   Jun 9, 2016

My blood freezes as their high- pitched
vile shriek echoes from the close by forest.
Every now and then I get a glimpse,
as if they roam in my house, watching over me.

At mid-night, very often;
They shake my bed roughly,
I sense as if someone is running down the hall way,
I hear someone, clawing on the glass windows.

Doors open and close by themselves
Creepy giggles from the closet
makes my mind numb.

They are very headstrong, evil spirits;
They want to abduct my soul
after putting me to sleep forever.

But now making myself strong;
I have decided to teach all devils
a good lesson with the help of Christ.

    Augastas, I feel this is a wonderful, dark poem. It gave me the chills in fact made me feel like I was there lying in bed scared of what was out there because of the imagery.
    There are a few areas that need a touch up I feel.. If you don't mind I will help because I want to nominate it..
