My Journey

by Maple Tree   Jun 11, 2016

Over a period of years,
the mountain view has
become incredibly beautiful.

I never knew how enchanting,
dark obstacles looked like
on the other side of strength.

Within each step, I could see
a new me growing, amazed
I ever made it thus far.

but even as the sun sets and rises
that ole darkness creeps in,
showing another step of the
mountain that I need to take.

Forgiving myself, letting go
of guilt and shame can be
such a daunting heartache.

Then a subtle, little rain shower falls-

cleansing the tears and letting it all go.

I'm smiling for new reasons
and it feels good,
knowing I did this climb
all by myself.

The highest reward in life
is to be proud of who you
are becoming,
even upon death,
we still continue to grow.

We are each our own Sun or Snow. People can be with us while we attempt (at times) what may seem impossible, especially where personal battles and emotions are the main focus but in many ways even with people around us we still climb on our own.

This made me smile and I'm sorry I didn't comment before.

    Andrea,

It's not easy to look back at the past and let go of old challenges and guilt, but once you accept the next step in your journey- you start to feel good about yourself. As you wrote this piece I know your heart was smiling because you have accomplished so much in life.We all have different chapters in lives where we can visually see who we are and how far we've grown. Such a powerful write...this is truly good stuff:) I'm proud of you.
