I always go on about the moonlight

by Darren   Jun 15, 2016

Falling during dreaming
kick-starts the butterflies
that unflappable feeling of lost control
insect fighting mayhem
like scattering leaves
in my mid section

though never landing

speed increasing
my hair incredulous
to a windswept reality
heck it's just a dream

cannot remember why I fell
was I riding your emotional coaster
did the calculus of thinking
turn my mind over too quickly

it is always dark
damp and humid
cobwebs and meat hooks
ready to break my fall
or my back

the smell
oh that stench
though we can never smell
in dreams

the only light
the moon beaming
always happy
annoyingly proud
bursting with joy
my polar opposite
lighting the way
Gods torch
always the last thing I see

never landed
but when you ask why I fell
I always go on about the moonlight
or so you say.

That moment when we awake, startled by the dream-fall that never ends - limbs jet skyward for a blink, then subside with a moistening film, well, everywhere. We always remember the light though.
