Silly Little Poems

by Maple Tree   Jun 27, 2016

Crouching in corners
with salt upon wounds,
I managed to wipe away
tears, left by you and you.

The others felt my presence
wasn't good enough,
at a time when being different
was not accepted, or embraced.

I clung to molds of what
they wanted me to be;
rejecting me
further on.

I sit upon middle age -
eating grapes while
poetry pours from
a mind that nobody
cared to understand.

Onlookers will never admit
judgment,
they only make excuses
as to why they left me
alone.

I've always been slow,
It's taken me forty
and some change
to reach the true
beauty of me....

now they notice.

It's too late,
for you and you.

I only have time for those who
chose to love
all of my broken
Imperfections
and who actually
enjoy reading
my silly
little poems.

    I like your poems
    silly and sad,
    the dark and the funny
    the good and the bad.

This has nothing to do with silliness!!!

This is mature and thought-provoking, certainly at specific age we realize who we are, what we want, and discover the exact place of that hidden beauty in us, very lovely read.

    P. S. Thank you for all of the lovely judging comments on my poetry, greatly appreciated :)

Oh Andrea-this is so beautiful! I hardly qualify your poems as silly little things. You write from the heart and it shows in all you've done. I'm sorry you felt like you didn't belong growing up. Sometimes it takes years before we feel whole with ourselves. You are home here amongst the rest of us the world never understood. Just loved this!
