Release

by Lance Hardy   Jun 30, 2016

The demons are swarming
Creating hurricanes of the mind
Unsure judgment and lost thought
My very being, undefined

Compulsion and obsession
Two dark evils ever present
Black clouds fogging and hogging
No clear atmosphere to vent

My own prison, it's been called
For as long as can be remembered
Still no ending in near sight
Ever worse passing each December

As these walls strain tighter
As more control becomes lost
The feeling becomes much colder
Edged with a sharp frost

But with it always being winter
Being bitten by it's touch
Should close off the doors and windows
Or be devoured as it's lunch

As in our cabin, we stand alone
A future hermit to forever be
Broken conscience and bitter heart
Just existing until we're free

Perhaps it's time for change
Release our struggles to be real
Retire from all we keep
Forget any desire to feel

Break down what has been founded
Level it all to empty field
Destroy hope and all surrounding
To erect an unbounded shield

Loved the visualizations and metaphors used here. Demons and ice...very clever. Great write!
