Broken Forever

by Maple Tree   Jul 4, 2016

It wasn't the ambiance of our room
nor fragrance of lavender,
just our conversation during
the middle of silence.

You reflected upon memories
as did I, we found our greatest
accomplishment within each other.

You've always had my back as I yours-

My eyes are so week and tired of crying
as yours have been filled with darkness
for a very long time,
and yet we still find strength within ourselves.

It wasn't the way your hand nestled within mine,

It was the incredible bond between our souls.

People say two broken evils
is a demons melody-

I guess we both just know
how to survive within our own
personal hell....

    Andrea,

How odd that I should alight upon this poem as I was having a similar conversation with someone earlier. Can two broken souls help each other or are they simply a hindrance? To me, there is no debate - the proof must be in the pudding as they say. Life isn't black and white - what works for some, doesn't for others. Personally, I believe sometimes a person has lived so much hardship and seen such terrible things, that only someone of a similar ilk could ever possibly understand.

    Wonderful, thought-provoking write.

Andrea, this is just beautiful-love is a crazy thing. We can be two of the most opposite people on the planet and have the most amazing relationship. Well done-
