    I like this personal reflection on the increasing normality of violence. You lay it out well with the repetitive lines regarding the loci of the conflagration. You were probably tempted to add in Africa, but then you faced the issue of why to exclude Oceania and Australia, not to mention whether America covers both continents ("the Americas") or just the USA. I think your choice left the poem balanced.

    I also like the coincidence with the 4th of July for your posting. The innocent setting off of fireworks is subliminally contrasted to the destruction of guns and bombs.

    Let us hope we will find, one day, independence from mass violence.

    Yes, definitely, I actually wrote Africa first but I had to reconsider.
