Still ...

by Larry Chamberlin   Jul 6, 2016

Climbed sacred mountains
swam in pools of the goddesses
prostrated piously in myriad temples.

Leaped from the back of a fierce eagle
landing soft by breath of Zephyrus;
chased dryads within olive groves
daring Zeus to spend his bolts.

Camped at that River Styx
chancing with sly Charon
my mortal life against
his eye-gold wages.

Dared flood-swollen torrents
throwing stones at mad Charybdis
thrown out, soaked, nearly drowned
lying haggard on the rocky scylla bank.

Climbed down to the pit of the hag
seeing her uncoiling beast
legless evil monstrosity
reared up, tower over

fang piercing foot

First off you did such a great work at this shape poetry and if I'm not mistaken it looks like a torch..an Olympic torch..maybe am wrong but the design stands out like that.

The very poem itself reads mystically taking the reader back to the Greek ages which makes me come to a conclusion of the Olympic theme. The beginning of the first 3 stanzas shows the players involved in certain sports and how their strength and onset of mind is pushing them to get to through a certain event.

Then again I might be completely off with this but it has all that ingredients, adventure and that determination of getting through to reach and be the best...
