Marionette

by Little Silver Pen   Jul 8, 2016

Marionette, that little doll, seems in so many ways perfect.
She is not perfect, and when you look realize this, you will feel kicked.

As you envy her, she envies you.
For you have expression, thoughts, and rights... why you envy her, she hasn't got a clue.

She has the perfect, long golden hair.
It never seems to suffers wear and tear.

Her golden hair may not seem to suffer wear and tear
But Time will leave it in ruins, destructive like an angry bear.

She has a small smile on her face
Forever filled with innocent grace.

Her small smile will not always be filled with innocent grace.
Time will turn the smile to a frown, or make it even disappear from her face.

She has the most gorgeous blue eyes
They are color of the endless skies.

Many others also have gorgeous eyes.
They can be emerald, amber, coal-black, and rarely, even the color of the red dye.

She has a beautiful white dress.
There are other colors, like red, blue, green, and the color of the purple cress.

She is popular, adored, and loved.
But no one truely got to know her, and she felt shoved.

Her name is rather pretty and cute.
It's ironic because it shows WHAT SHE IS in a way that is very acute.

Oh dear, did you really think little Marionette was A doll?
Heavens no, she is no doll, she is a person!

Marionette knows of many people like her.
The popular girl who is loved.
The goth who was 'secretly' admired.
The singer with a beautiful voice, yet has no voice.

Remember this.

Unlike her, you are allowed to act different for change.
You can act cheery, stoic, angry, or even simply strange.

Although you are judged for how you look and act,
You can say anything you want, but preferably with tact.

Please don't end up with her fate.
You can be TRULY great.

Celeste, I really enjoyed this piece as it has a very good meaning to it that many people can relate to. I like how you are basically saying that no one is perfect like marionette seems to be and she probably as some kind of scars or secrets too. We should all be ourselves (even of different to there) because that makes us who we are.
I do have some edit suggestions which I hope you are ok with but remember they are only suggestions and I will first write about the poem then post my edit suggestions complete with full poem so if you wish to use it, its easy to copy.

Marionette, that little doll, seems in so many ways perfect.
She is not perfect, and when you look realize this, you will feel kicked.
    ^^
I like the opening here. Marionette seems to be the perfect 'barbie doll' type so many people look for but beauty on the outside fades whereas inner beauty usually stays forever.

As you envy her, she envies you.
For you have expression, thoughts, and rights... why you envy her, she hasn't got a clue.
    ^^
A very truthful part. Envy is often not noticed nor is it accepted but we are all probably envied for something in our lifetimes, usually being different from others.

She has the perfect, long golden hair.
It never seems to suffers wear and tear.

Her golden hair may not seem to suffer wear and tear
But Time will leave it in ruins, destructive like an angry bear.
    ^^
As I said a 'barbie doll' type who has the 'perfect' hair which never seems put of place.

She has a small smile on her face
    Forever filled with innocent grace.

Her small smile will not always be filled with innocent grace.
Time will turn the smile to a frown, or make it even disappear from her face.
    ^^
I like his part because it snows she isn't exactly perfect because she doesn't always wear her smile as times changed her, made her sad and I wonder why this perfect girl is sad.

She has the most gorgeous blue eyes
They are color of the endless skies.

Many others also have gorgeous eyes.
They can be emerald, amber, coal-black, and rarely, even the color of the red dye.
    ^^
I like how you mention eyes here. They may be all different colours but you can tell a lot about a person just by looking into their eyes.

She has a beautiful white dress.
There are other colors, like red, blue, green, and the color of the purple cress.
    ^^
I do feel this is a little out of place for the poem but its nice to get a visual of this perfect girl.

She is popular, adored, and loved.
But no one truely got to know her, and she felt shoved.
    ^^
She may be loved and popular but that means nothing in this day and age, as you say nobody knew her properly because like everyone she probably has secrets.

Her name is rather pretty and cute.
It's ironic because it shows WHAT SHE IS in a way that is very acute.
    ^^
Her name may be something bit its what's inside that counts.

Oh dear, did you really think little Marionette was A doll?
Heavens no, she is no doll, she is a person!
    ^^
I feel this could be removed because poetry is meant to be interpreted in different ways but you do tell us she isn't a doll. I did realise this earlier.

Marionette knows of many people like her.
The popular girl who is loved.
The goth who was 'secretly' admired.
The singer with a beautiful voice, yet has no voice.
    ^^
We all know people with similarities to us but they will never be the same as us because if they were the world would be a very boring place.

    Remember this.

Unlike her, you are allowed to act different for change.
You can act cheery, stoic, angry, or even simply strange.

Although you are judged for how you look and act,
You can say anything you want, but preferably with tact.
    ^^
Yes, yes, yes! Difference is always frowned up on but we need to be different to be ourselves.

Please don't end up with her fate.
    You can be TRULY great.
    ^^
Love this because you're telling us to be different.

A very unique piece with so much meaning.

Now here is the full poem with my suggestions.:

Marionette, that little doll, seems in so many ways perfect
but isn't and when you look realize this, you will be disappointed.

As you envy her, she envies you.
For you have expression, thoughts, and rights...
why you envy her, she hasn't got a clue.

She has the perfect, long golden hair.
It never seems to suffer wear and tear,

Her hair stays perfect, like her
but in time, it will ruin, destructive like an angry bear.

She has a small smile on her face
    Forever filled with innocent grace.

    Her beautiful smile full of grace will change;
Time will turn her smile into a frown,
    It may disappear completely.

She has the most gorgeous blue eyes
    like that in sunny skies.

Many others also have gorgeous eyes.
They can be emerald, amber, coal-black, and rarely, even the colour of the red dye.

She has a beautiful white dress though not plain
It has other colours, like red, blue, green, and holds a purple cress.

She is popular, adored, and loved.
But no one truly got to know her, and she felt shoved...
    away.

Her name is rather pretty and cute.
It's ironic because it shows WHAT SHE IS in a way that is very accurate. .

Marionette knows of many people like her.
The popular girl who is loved.
The goth who was 'secretly' admired.
The singer with a beautiful voice, yet has none.

    Remember this:
Unlike her, you are allowed to act different for change.
You can act cheery, stoic, angry, or even simply strange.

Although you are judged for how you look and act,
You can say anything you want, but preferably with tact.

Please don't end up with her fate.
    You can be TRULY great.

Sorry on the terribly long post but I hope it helps. All in all, great piece.

Thank you. This poem is supposed to be about envy, how 'happy and perfect' people aren't so happy and perfect, and how I see them like puppets and dolls.

You, unlike them, can act the way you want, think the way you want, and talk how you want.

The name itself is meaningful to the poem.
