I like to throw little easter eggs in some of my poems, but this one I felt like no one would get so I gave it away :P

For example, in the poem "The Death of Friendship", I threw a little reference to Silent Films in there, with the fourth line of "with no more than a silent, 'Fin.'" If you look up on google "silent films fin" you'll see what I am referring to. As well, "A Silent Film" is my favorite band, and I sent the person the poem was about once a song by them... so the line was my easter egg for that poem!

      Just a small example :P

What a clever write here; very original. It is sad that democracy has reached a point when all we are often left with is 'the lesser of two evils'.
In Britain, we have two parties that are ever likely to win an election - Conservatives and Labour. There are others, but none of them stand a chance and neither of the two prominent ones are very popular at the moment. Democracy? I'm not sure....

It is a shame the state of the world, though there have been worse times and I'm sure there have been better times. I do think, however, that it will take a few generations until humans realize the need to work together, especially when it comes down to saving ourselves and our families, perhaps even the planet. Democracy, these days, has just become false populism, making people feel like they control the state of things but just giving them strings not connected to anything to control. Illusions of control make a human feel powerful enough to disregard reality.

Anywho, welcome to this site and your poetry is wonderful so far. Thanks for letting me know, inadvertently, that this poem is called an Acrostic (Blade is wonderful and I'm off to comment on that after this.) I changed the title as knowledge now dictates.

      Thanks again for your time!

I never noticed the first line thing. This is very clever and original. I was going to vote for Trump, and I might change my mind.

    Gary Johnson... Hahahaha.

Thank you very much for your comment, and for reading this :) As an American, I hope you'll make the decision that's best for the country, whichever you think that may be. As long as you get out and vote!

Very clever piece of prose. We in the UK are going through a massive political upheaval so I can sympathise although I don't really understand who would be good or bad out of the two of them for the USA. I think whenever it comes to voting the population of whichever country is torn not knowing which of the politicians is telling the truth and which is just spinning a good tale. A nice current piece. I have heard that things are a bit messy over there, and it's hard to follow politics when your own are overwhelming and teeming with chaos. Thank you for reading and commenting, and it's nice to see a politically kindred spirit here on PnQ!

I didn't realize how many regulars were from the UK until I posted this and realized it's mostly irrelevant to a great majority of everyone! Goodness! Thanks for reading, anyway, glad you enjoyed it :-)

      Much love,

Lol, just realized I put an extra "L" line in there. Oh well, it gets the point across...tic. Hah! Edits have been made!

Thanks again for reading, and I am as dissatisfied as you are with the options in this race, and the fact that so many people are considering it. Where is the refresh button on the candidate pool!? Lol, but anyway, hope you're well!

Nice poem. I like the way you rhymed the last word in each sentence of each paragraph.

I agree with this poem in a very strong stance. I'm fearful of how this will all go. The next 4 years could be very difficult for us after this election. Either way, this poem is well done and saturated in truth.

Well done, America is in a very sticky situation. You portrayed it perfectly.

Yes, unfortunately most Americans buy into the whole "You only get to choose between these two candidates", when that's not the reality of it, and that's barely democracy at all, especially when the candidates are very nearly always wealthy. It ends up being more of an Oligarchy.

Thank you for reading, and I hope more people adopt your mindset!
