Kitten

by Little Silver Pen   Jul 8, 2016

The little kitten squirms
As it climbs out of its box
Its expression needy.

Staring at my face,
It cutely mews for something
But I don't know what to do.

Ah, the little kitten wants
its mother, and some milk to drink.
It also wants to play.

I smiled happily.
I brought her mother over.
The mother walks to Kit.

I walked over to her
And then she climbed into my lap.
She drank out of the bottle.

She crawls away
And she stares at her mother
With beady black eyes.

I love my little kitten.
I decided to name it.
The kitten's name's Pip.

(Notice that each stanza is a haiku.)

I very much enjoyed reading your poem but I'm not sure that I agree with each stanza being a Haiku.

It is my understanding is that a Haiku does consist of three lines but that each of those lines should have a set number of syllables that should total up to 17.

    Line 1 - 5 syllables
    Line 2 - 7 syllables
    Line 3 - 5 syllables

Hope that is of some helps Milly x
