Hate you, I never could.

by Bewitched   Jul 19, 2016

Forgive me for what I say
For I know it hurts like hell
Forgive me for the pain I cause
A perpetrator I am ,deserving of cell.

I may seem distant, it's because I am
The distance is the only thing that
Keeps me safe, keeps me sane

Some fires are better put out
Before they burn and they will,
they will burn our whole world down
Some graves better not dug
I fear the bones, the dirt, the feelings that hurl

It's not that I hate you, I never could
Hate is for the life gone to waste
Hate is for the life unpursued
Hate is for the feelings not laid to rest
Hate is for the memories, seeped and imbued

It's not that I hate you, I never could
Hate is for the crime of leading us in the dark, the most blinding part
Hate is for these feelings that tangle and twist, that suffocate my heart

It's not that I hate you, I never could
Hate is for the feeling of ease in your company, the feeling that has me flayed
Hate is for the choice we made, the moment lead astray
Hate is for the void in my heart and the struggle to fill
Hate is for that piece of heart long lost, left stranded out in the savage chill

It's not that I hate you, I never could
But when hating you is what sets me free
The choice is not as easy, believe me.
