HEALING

by Wayne Gates   Aug 1, 2016

HEALING
Healing my soul and getting real
means taking off my mask
and start to reveal
all that I hide from
my insecurities and fears
and behind that
my desperation and tears
I can't keep faking it
saying I'm fine
when in reality
I'm walking a thin line
to show others who I really am
is easy to say
but a very hard plan
starting to open up my book
and allowing the world
to get an accurate look
will allow me to hear
what needs to be done
It's not an easy task
and it won't be fun
but I want to look in the mirror
and be happy with what I see
not a mask
but the real me

Once we stop wearing masks for ourselves, we can stop wearing them for others. Great poem, and very brave of you for sharing. Take care.

    Hello Wayne,

writing honestly is perhaps the hardest thing to do; to share this is another step up. Well done for sharing.

It is hard to reveal what lies beneath the masks we all wear. The soft underbelly, the parts that feel vulnerable. Writing about them is a safe way to explore the healing process and to eventually move one.

    Well done Wayne.

    Take care,

    Michael
