My own worst enemy

by Michael LoMonaco   Aug 7, 2016

Stabbing myself with criticism,
Inflicting scars through judgment.

Wounded by fearful hopelessness,
As I bleed out my own confidence.

Goals are limited by negative views,
Incapable of achieving full success.

Brawling with the mental despair,
Trying to uplift a positive stance.

Also at war with a harmful world,
Fighting for a spot in civilization.

Dueling with barriers to end misery,
On a determined mission for peace.

By combating my own worst enemy,
The wounds of self-esteem can heal.

In my opinion, it's hard for people with high self-esteem to understand someone without, particularly when they haven't been trained to understand (such as a professional counselor, etc, may have had). People with low self-esteem are not only fighting with their mind, they are fighting a world that doesn't understand nor cares to slow down.

    Thanks for sharing.
