Lancing ugliness... (syntuit)

razor blades cut deep,
releasing frustration from
lonely, unheard screams...

This is relatable 110%. The imagination and vividness is amazing. Well done on getting such a powerful message into 3 lines. great work.

I went and read Belles poem after this, and I must say she has an mazing way of showing how she feels.

Yes, sorry Michael, I should have been clearer. I understand exactly what you meant and your meaning shouldn't be lost on anyone. The use of the word 'ugly' in this sense is purely from the sufferer's perspective.
Keep it absolutely - the poem is all the more powerful because of it.

    Great stuff, Michael.

But it's not true ugliness that's being lanced. Often, it's just lack of confidence and isolation brought about by a feeling that no one understands, which in turn leads the cutter to thinking they are ugly - inside or out - and committing this act on themselves.
I am fortunate to say that I do not understand how people can do this to themselves; I suppose if I did, I would have to have experienced it first hand. But I'm fairly sure it's not the answer in the long run.

      Hello Sir L,

thank you for your 'praise worthy' comment. I nearly did not put the word 'ugliness' in the title, but then thought, the term ugly is (in my mind) more about how a person feels about themselves. An attractive person can feel ugly due to all the attention they receive, wishing they were different. Ugly in this sense feeling out of place (different) either physically, emotionally or mentally.

Thank you for your insightful comment.

      Take care,

      Michael

Michael, though short this is very powerful and raw write which many people can relate too. I do like these short forms as it gives the writer less chance to get a point across and you always seem to do it with such umpth.
