Another New Beginning

by Maple Tree   Aug 7, 2016

Planted by hands unknowingly sprouted
a birthing of graceful complexity.

My elegant design reached to the heavens
of billowy cushions as the sun hid within comfort.

Veins became nourished along a road
less traveled by civilians, as hunters; hunted.

I grew as a flower, winds of change
granted seasons of perennial evolution.

Petals graze the eyes that see the moon for what it is..

Beautiful, beautiful as the darkest of nights.

A natural death has allowed this seedling
to sprout another poem,
another new beginning.

    Judging Comment:

This poem is absolutely wonderful in terms of self-realization and in poetic nature as well. One thing so many members here enjoy so much about Maple Tree's work is how she tends to lean towards nature theme and still relate them to the human condition or whatever it may be that she herself is going through. While this piece is certainty no exception to that, it is a phenomenal representation of her talent and views of the world. The imagery here is excellent and inviting, the word choice is direct and precise, and the style is interesting enough to keep the audience engaged while also being simple enough not to scare them away. I've read this piece a few times since its nomination, and each time I just find more and more things to love about it, which I honestly believe is a benefit that most fans of the author AND fans of the news letter are able to experience.
