Sugar and spice

by Dancing Rivers   Aug 11, 2016

Deep dark sensations caressed my timid lips
as the aroma of wild cocoa beans drenched me in desire.
Sweet swirls of chilli-tainted cherries pinched my palette
in an extraordinary burst of sensual bliss.

These dark secrets I hide in my bedroom closet
might lead to my demise if I were to be found out.
My mask would be ripped and shredded
as my shame lay naked on the ground.

I cannot allow them to realize
that sugar and spice is my demise!

    Hello,

as SL says, your poetry never fails to deliver. I think that is why all beginners like myself should try as many different forms, copy other styles until one day the writer discovers their own.

A poem of guilty pleasures conjures up all kinds of imagery for me. Either literal of metaphorical, I don't mind, maybe a bit of both is the way to go?

    Take care,

Hehe thanks Mike, hey beginner????? Stop talking nonsense you're a brilliant writer, you write far more than I do and have quite a unique penmanship yourself, please do not insult yourself by calling you a beginner!!!

Thanks for taking the time to comment.

      take care

There must be something in the air! I've just read Michael's latest and now this, lol.

What I love about your poetry is that you never fail to deliver in terms of description and imagery and they don't always follow any tried and trusted method: it can be free verse one minute, and then a rhyme's thrown in the next (like at the end, here)

    This is excellent.
