The Phone Call

THE PHONE CALL
Sometimes life deals you a blow
That's so overwhelming, you don't know where to go
You can't sit down, you can not sleep
You want to pick up the phone but know you'll freak
If you try to talk about what you do not know
The pain you feel but can not show
It's hidden deep, so well concealed
You cry, you try, but it won't be revealed
Alcohol and drugs don't dull the pain
You read the right books but it's all in vain
You pray for help then you pray some more
Hoping the answer will be at your door
As you open it and look outside
You find no help and ponder suicide
But then something happens, a call from a friend
He says, "I'm coming over". The pain begins to end
Prayers get answered, it just takes time
With encouraging words he says "you'll be fine
This will pass just hang in there"
And as he talks you lose your fear
Hope returns and you begin to smile
That's when you say "stick around for a while"
God sent you a friend that day
That's how it works, and it's all I'll say

Wayne, this really touched me. It flows so perfectly and friends like these are hard to find.
