Scars

by Nil   Aug 27, 2016

This pain you hold
The scars you keep
Do not define you
They no longer speak

Words and thoughts
In yesteryear
Are fading away
.. You're so dear

The emotions you hold
The pain you've bared
You made it through
You're still there

Shame is looming
But close your eyes
The marks are there
Just realize..

You are worth
more than the scars
you are worth
all of the stars

So smile and wipe
your tears away
you're special and beautiful...
And your scars... are the same

The rhyming is wonderful and the message powerful.

The only thing I can think of is because of the rhyming scheme the end part threw me off abit so I have a suggestion:

Instead of are the same change it to live another day as it still means the scars are there and keeps the rhyme.

Fab poem nonetheless and remember its only a suggestion.

Very powerful write and the truth so well spoken. Scars of any kind become manageable in time and it does not define us. Life goes on and letting go to me was the key. Thank you for sharing. Take care. Add to my favorite

    Hello

This is an excellently rhymed and inspirational little piece. The scars that mark us - metaphorically or otherwise - are just that: scars. They do not have to hold negative sway in our lives - in fact, quite the contrary. If we suffer them and survive them, we are stronger because of them.

    Well written,
