Darkness Overthrown (Ottava Rima)

by Meena Krish   Aug 29, 2016

Tranquil night melts away from earth's embrace
paving a cloudless path for the rising king,
life on earth waits to awake to a bright face
and bask in the warmth a brilliant sun brings,
drums of thunder moves closer at a fast pace
towards earth soldiers of dark clouds approaching...
to this unpleasant gloom the day surrenders
an overcast morning now becomes colder;

The king fights the looming army without fear
his glare strikes through the clouds and infiltrates,
towards land his ray of light struggles to near
and his fury builds up whilst heat escalates,
dark soldiers flee as king's gaze turns severe-
for earth a bright day he begins to create,
king positions himself on a cloudless throne
and shines with pride for darkness is overthrown!
