Another Break Up Poem

by Lyssi Lori   Sep 14, 2016

Unsent messages. Forgotten dates.
Lonely nights. Twisted fates.
Broken promises. Hallowed hearts.
You feel yourself falling apart.

Painful memories of the good and the bad.
What do you do when s/he is all you ever had?
The monsters are crawling out of your mind.
You wish that there was a way to rewind.

The world continues moving, so slow that you're convinced it might stop.
You fall pretty hard when you fell from the top.
Second by second, minute by minute creep by,
You aren't sure how to move on, but you try.

Silently panicking. Gasping for air.
So much on your mind-- you blankly stare.
You try to reassure yourself, "Deep breaths." "You're okay."
You do your best to take everything day by day.

Wasted time. Childish dreams.
All your efforts bursting at the seams.
You're making yourself mad
What-could-have-beens and should-haves.

    This is absolutely stunningly done.
From the short sharp lines to the rhythm, it read smoothly. Break ups are never easy!

Your lines really captured the traumas of broken friendship or relationship. I like the beats.
