How Come I Always Have to Ask?

by CJ Johnson   Sep 21, 2016

A century old argument I write of
That involves a woman and a man
Adam probably had the same frustration I do
When this creation thing had all began
The argument I write of is simple
And involves the solicitation of another
Of an act that can be considered sacred
That makes someone a father or a mother
It's not that act that is maddening
In fact, that's really the exact opposite way
It's trying to get down to the action
Which caused an expression of my dismay
I never come home to lights set low
Or the under garments leading up the stair
I never get a whisper in my right ear
To attack with a ravenous affair
The movies, they lie and tell of no truth
Because I always have to submit
My own ideas for our altercations
That usually happen way too swift
"Hey, would you like to fool around tonight"
Seems to be my best line
Even though she knows I am desperate
She usually rejects this ill sadden whine
So I curse the heavens each night at ten
When I'm given my repetitive "no"
But I get up each morning with hope in my eyes
To give it yet another go!

Wow, I have never come upon a poem as bold as this one. It's not the typical subject I will read here but that's what makes it more special. I love your freedom in expressing your thoughts in this matter. Great write!

Your too kind. Its not really that bold, just a true expression of a normal husband after multiple years of marriage :)
