Like Air

by Sean Allen   Jul 8, 2004

Ideas are ethereal,
hardly even there;
not physically tangible,
thinner than air.

And they compete,
all fighting to find
a small crack, a foothold
in all of our minds.

Is any idea best;
are some better than others?
Do ideas have children;
do they have sisters and brothers?

Can ideas be studied;
placed on a slide
to be seen and observed,
to be convicted and tried?

Ideas aren't matter,
but do they matter at all?
Can they cause revolutions;
make dictators fall?

Or are they just tools,
a means for an end?
Are they malleable,
do they curve and bend?

Who really cares?
After all, in the end,
there will always be ideas
if there are always men.

    Right I thought someone would bring up the lack of women, yeh, not enough syllables to allow that, mebbe I should just change it to women period.

    Heh. Look what you did Sean. Well my 'ideas' take the form of leprechauns that bounce around and tell me to burn things...
    anyways, this poem was good and the idea was unique, but the format of it doesn't match up with your other poems.
