My night

by deeplydesturbed   Sep 29, 2016

Three forty seven in the afternoon on an average day
The weather outside worse for wear
A lot of rain, wind, lightning and thunder
But the world is still getting by without care

Three forty eight on the dot however,
Things start to go amiss
Lights go out all around the town
People are stuck in their office lifts

Pack up and leave work an hour early
Roads are blocked of cars, and traffic lights are down
The normal half hour drive extended
The chaos is now all around

Police on as many corners as they can
Firery's and ambos in their trucks
Phone signal is gone, a state wide blackout
The guy in the car in front of me ducks

A flash across the sky reveals
A plane flying possibly too low
The cloud is covering their landing path
There isn't a single building with glow

The airports down, triple zero is gone
Hospitals running on back ups
How can this happen to so many people
The situation makes me crack up

Panic sets in as people ask
Is this how it's all going to end
The apocalypse is here today
Why won't my messages send

Have no fear however
It's just Mother Nature being herself
She sent us a cyclone, a tornado and a fire
She's just being a meddling elf

Several hours later
Much of the state restored
Now comes the huge clean up
Thank God for electricity, without it I was bored!

* Firery's and ambos are slang for ambulance driver and fire fighters
* 000 is Australia's emergency number (like 911)

Naomi, what a day you had! Pure chaos in it's most natural settings. Your descriptives really put you right there-well done...I really do appreciate your other comments, so sweet of you, really...love you girl!
