Funeral Flowers

by Maple Tree   Oct 5, 2016

Dewy petals
flavor skin with
hints of lilac.

Naked-

Reborn from shadows
of a shallow grave,
these flowers decayed
slowly,

seeping six feet below.

I choked upon a flowerbed
years ago, before a bitter chill
of autumn condemned me to death.

October-
You alone stripped me of all that I have ever loved.

I taste spring within this coma sleep;

My eyes are turning a lavender shade,
mixing within a sunset of new beginnings.

You will remember me,
as I bid you farewell and goodbye.

Skipping though your decayed,
soulless leaves-

Ill leave a flower upon your tomb.

So you may be reborn,
as I did years ago....

This is incredible, Maple. Dark and absorbing all at once.

Wow Andrea this is such a unique write. I re-read it three times and got something different each time, so cool! I saw you as a spirit wandering the grave yard. I also saw you as a visitor to the grave site and I also saw you as part of the nature-amazing!
