Upon that hillside, far away
holds a secret covered with moss
gravestones glisten an eerie gray

whispers shadow in light of day
tales untold of a tainted loss

Triolet

A Triolet is a poetic form consisting of only 8 lines. Within a Triolet, the 1st, 4th, and 7th lines repeat, and the 2nd and 8th lines do as well. The rhyme scheme is simple: ABaAabAB, capital letters representing the repeated lines.

This poem is 8 syllables in length.

    These forms are so hard to pull off. Not only are there repeated end rhymes, but also repeaten whole lines. When written well, the outcome has a song like quality, with beat and lovely refrains.

    I have one suggestion I'd like to offer. To my ear, if you use the word, 'that' instead of 'a' in the first, fourth and seventh lines, it sounds more fitting.

    Either way, the poem is beautiful, a tuneful rhyme, full of melancholy, steeped in olde mystery.
