Choices

by Wayne Gates   Nov 22, 2016

While driving my car down a mighty interstate
Stuck in traffic, hoping not to late
To a city of sin, open all night
Thousands coming in, they pack em in tight
I started to have doubts if I should go
Should I turn around, I did not know
To continue with the flow was easy to do
But how to veer off, I haven't a clue
A small exit up ahead off to the right
But I'm in the left, I'll have to fight
So many people determined to get there
I'll never get off, I began to fear
I jerked the wheel, shucked and jived
And when I was done, I got to the side
The road was narrow, bumpy and long
Yet I knew I was on the path that I belong
A path that led to a quieter place
And while I drove I started to contemplate
About how my life had been lived up to that day
I pulled the car over and began to pray
Lord, am I on the path that you want for me?
Am I now going where I'm meant to be?
I abandoned my car and began to walk
And as I did I continued to talk
To a power greater than me
And over the next hill I began to see
What I had always wanted, but was not aware
A place of peace, a place without fear
I took the right path on that eventful day
And from here on out, this is where I'll stay

    Hi Wayne,

This write of yours is wonderful, I really like the "voice" it's written in and the journey it takes the reader on, word choice is great and I'm gutted I can;t nominate it.

      Thank you Ben.
As always in my writes, there is my journey and struggle as the motivation.

Decision, is murdering options. Who makes one, be sure to abide.
